Lynas plans new Outlet site for Cookstown

Lynas Foodservice is to open a new branch of its Food Outlet chain the mid-Ulster town of Cookstown, creating 14 new jobs.

This will be the eighth Outlet branch opened by the Coleraine-based firm and is scheduled to start trading in October from the former Pound World unit at Orritor Retail Park.

The Outlet chain allows members of the public to shop a vast range of food in large pack sizes at value prices. The new store will offer beef, pork, lamb and chicken from Lynas’s own Causeway Prime brand along with a big range of frozen, chilled, ambient and household items.

Lynas Foodservice is a third-generation family business that has been trading throughout the island of Ireland for more than 70 years. Founded in Coleraine when Bobby Lynas opened a small fishmonger’s shop, it now provides work to more than 500 staff and delivers in Ireland and Scotland.

There are currently Outlets in Belfast, Ballymena, Bangor, Coleraine, Derry/Londonderry and Newry.
