Luxury Dunluce Lodge set to open for business in Portrush next year

A new five-star hotel beside Royal Portrush Golf Club is set to open its doors in 2023, two years before the return of the Open Championship.

The Dunluce Lodge hotel and spa will overlook the fourth fairway of the famous Dunluce links, with views of Portrush town, Donegal headlands and The Skerries.

A team from Maxwell and Company, Inverness, are behind the design while Valor Hospitality Partners will manage the Lodge.

Brian McCarthy, managing director of UK and Europe at Valor Hospitality, said: “We’re very excited about our plans for The Dunluce Lodge, not only for what it means for Valor’s growth, but also the opportunities it will bring to The Royal Portrush Golf Club and local area.

“With its five-star status, this resort will attract visitors from all over, and with our experience in managing luxury resorts around the globe, including golf projects in South Africa and in the US, we are more than ready to apply our expertise to our first development in Northern Ireland.
“In 2021, Valor’s UK portfolio doubled in size, marking a real stake in the ground for our growth ambitions going forward.
“As we expand further, it’s particularly special to be working on a project such as this, where we have been involved since its inception and we’re looking forward to seeing the development progress.”

The hotel is expected to create to 44 jobs in the area and generate between £8.7m to £9.8m for the north coast economy each season.

The development will consist of a three-storey main lodge building with reception, dining and bar areas, golf bag store and seven guest accommodation suites. It will also include guest accommodation to the rear of the main lodge, consisting of 20 further suites.

The development will be the first of its kind in the north coast, with no other five-star hotel existing within a 60-mile radius.
