New low-cost accommodation signals Warren Collection’s ambition

The company behind the Number 11 hotel on Belfast’s Malone Road has opened its latest low-cost tourist digs in the Cathedral Quarter.

What was student accommodation next to Ulster University’s has now been revamped as “minimalist” and “quirky” low cost accommodation with rooms available from just £45 per night .

Mark Royal House, a former office building  on Donegall Street, had been converted into a 45-bedroom student scheme in 2015 in anticipation of Ulster University’s relocation to its new York Street campus.

The renovation marks the Warren Collection’s second project in Belfast following the opening of the Number 11 boutique hotel opposite Queen’s University’s Computer Science Building in May last year.

Company directors, David Warren and Mark Docherty opened ‘Number 11′ on the Malone Road last year, transforming the Victorian era townhouse into 12-bed boutique accommodation.

The businessmen said they are already closing on a third acquisition in Belfast, which will remodel and rebrand a hotel in the city by June 2022, adding another 20 bedrooms.

The pair are also looking at sites in Manchester, Edinburgh and Portugal with plans to open 250 rooms by the end of 2023.

David Warren said ‘Quarter’ combines “smart design with new technology to create an environment that is high-end as well as being great value for money,”.

He added: “Guest accommodation rates do not need to be excessive to ensure visitors are provided with the very best user experience.”

Mark Docherty said: “Our latest venture will appeal to both leisure and corporate guests. Its location is known for its lively bar, restaurant and café scene, close proximity to major tourist attractions and great travel and transport connections.”
