International Airport unveils new lounge

The newly refurbished Causeway Lounge at Belfast International Airport has been officially opened by US consul general, Daniel Lawton.

With an investment of more than £250,000 by the airport, business and leisure passengers can now enjoy a host of amenities to make sure that every journey can get off to a perfect start.

With a focus on quality local produce, the lounge’s complimentary food menu and gourmet buffet counter boasts artisan treats from companies such as Fivemiletown Cheese and Ditty’s Oat Cakes, all served up by a team from Mount Charles, which will be operating the lounge.

Speaking at the launch recently, U.S. Consul General Daniel Lawton acknowledged that Belfast International Airport was “a critical gateway” for direct access to the US from Northern Ireland as well as GB and Europe.

“Transatlantic trade, tourism, and investment is vital to the prosperity of this region,” he added. “I commend the airport for making this significant investment in passenger facilities.”

Located just off the main departures concourse, the Causeway Lounge occupies an enviable location above the main viewing gallery, affording unrivalled views of the main runways. The room has continuous panoramic full height glazing and the new layout makes the most of the fabulous vistas.

Mount Charles managing director, Cathal Geoghegan, said that he was “absolutely thrilled” with the new lounge: “It is apt that this major refurbishment has taken place during the Northern Ireland Year of Food and Drink and we are sure that customers will delight in the range of top quality food offerings provided in the wonderful new Causeway Lounge, as well as in the Fed & Watered restaurant which we operate in the main concourse,” he added.
