The Borders Distillery Unveils Final Workshop Series

The Borders Distillery has unveiled the fourth and final expression in its blended whisky Workshop Series with the launch of ‘Deep Time’,  a limited edition bottling inspired by the pioneering Scottish geologist and farmer James Hutton, marking 300 years since his birth.

Created in the spirit of innovation, the Workshop Series has given the Hawick distillery the freedom to experiment with flavour, cask combinations and distillation techniques while laying the foundations for the distillery’s future single malt releases.

Entirely created in the Scottish Borders, each release showcases the versatility and character of the distillery’s award winning new make spirit.

The final edition, Deep Time, pays tribute to James Hutton, one of Scotland’s most notable scholars. From the soils he cultivated as a farmer to the rocks he studied as a scientist, Hutton recognised the powerful relationship between land, water and time. Principles that continue to shape whisky making today.

Using the same batch of spirit first distilled for the distillery’s 2019 Workshop Series release, Deep Time demonstrates the influence of maturation and how the spirit has evolved over time. The result is a rich and rewarding whisky with notes of apple tart and peach, leading to a long, elegant finish made to be savoured.

As we close this chapter, we’re also celebrating how these experimental releases have helped lay the foundations for our single malt, giving us invaluable insight into the character and potential of our spirit.”

Bottled at ABV 40%, will be available from The Borders Distillery and selected specialist retailers, with only 750 bottles available.
