Hotel growth under the spotlight

Hotel growth under the spotlight

Those delegates attending the forthcoming Hospitality Exchange (HE) event in Belfast during October will have first sight of a new, in-depth analysis of NI’s burgeoning hotel industry.

The NI Hotel Federation will use its flagship HE event – scheduled for the Crowne Plaza in Belfast on October 16 and 17 – to launch the latest iteration of the rolling sectoral forecast which it undertakes with specialist benchmarking firm, STR.

With local hotels now offering more than 9000 bedrooms, the new report will deliver the first thorough assessment of the effect of the new stock on the NI market, its impact on job creation and some of the challenges which still lie ahead. It will contain a full analysis of the Belfast market and a “high level summary” of the situation in Derry-Londonderry and elsewhere in Northern Ireland.

“This information will give a valuable insight to hoteliers and the wider industry,” NIHF chief executive, Janice Gault, told LCN. “It is a unique opportunity to learn first-hand about forecasted performance in the coming months and to assess business performance against key performance indicators.”

Sarah Duignan of STR added:

“A lot of new product can create both opportunities and challenges and a measured and well-supported forecast can be an invaluable tool for businesses.”
