Couple close Coleraine cafe after 10 years in business

A Coleraine café is closing after 10 years in business – but its owners assured customers they’re working on “great plans” for their other premises in Portstewart.

Lost & Found opened two cafés with a mission to “provide a quality food offering that showcases local produce, served in its inspiring coastal spaces”.

Informing customers of the decision to close the Coleraine café on Facebook, owners Dave and Emily Lynas said they had enjoyed “ten wonderful years” and described it as “the end of an era”.

The decision is not down to one particular factor, they explained, and the space holds “many happy memories” for the couple.

On Facebook, the pair said: “On October 28th, Lost & Found Coleraine will open and close for the final time.

“We’ve had a phenomenal decade of serving the north coast and all its visitors, so it’s a bittersweet moment in the Lost & Found story.

“This café means so much to so many people, and whilst we’re sad that our time in Coleraine is coming to an end, there are a few lifetimes of happy memories that just won’t let the smiles come off our faces.”

They added: “Lost & Found Portstewart, your #HomeOnTheCoast, isn’t going anywhere. There are some great plans in the works for this beautiful spot so we’re excited for the next chapter! More on that later.

“On Saturday 28th, do try and call in to the Coleraine caf’ one last time. The coffee will be on the house to celebrate 10 years of fun.

“Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for everything. Dave and Em.”

Customers expressed disappointment at the news and gratitude to the owners and staff, with one saying the cafe served “the best coffee in Coleraine”.

Another said: “So sad to hear that you are closing, you have been my favourite north coast spot when up visiting. Such a safe haven and peaceful spot to recharge and chill. Thank you for all the years.”
