Three new Starbucks takes NI outlets to 26

Starbucks is set to open three new outlets bringing the total number in Northern Ireland to 26.

The new stores will be based in Belfast, Derry and Newtownards and the US chain is already recruiting for what will be its third outlet in Derry, on the Strand Road thoroughfare.

Later this year it will add two new drive-thru outlets in North Down and North Belfast, with planning approval granted for a unit at the revamped Hillview Retail Park on Belfast’s Crumlin Road.

Ciaran and Colm Butler, who hold the island of Ireland franchise for the Seattle-based coffee giant, sought approval for the facility at Hillview, where Lidl are anchor tenants/

The application was submitted by Raspet Limited, whose address is unit 5 of the Connswater Shopping Centre, the unit which is home to Starbucks at the east Belfast retail complex.

Industry monitor Construction Information Services Ireland estimates the Hillview development will represent an investment of around £500,000.

Hillview Retail Park is owned by Killultagh Estates, which also owns both the Connswater Shopping Centre and the Castlebawn Shopping Centre in Newtownards.

Planning officials in Ards and North Down are currently considering another separate planning application from Raspet Limited for a new drive-thru just south-west of the Castlebawn complex.
