The Dublin-based Dalata Hotel Group has completed the re-branding of The Tower Hotel in Londonderry, which it acquired last month.

The Maldron Hotel, Derry – a 93-bedroom, four-star venue is now set to undergo a £450,000 refurbishment programme focused on its bedrooms and public areas. That work is due to be completed in 2015.

Speaking at the unveiling of the new branding recently, deputy chief executive of Dalata, Stephen McNally said that he was delighted to add the Maldron Hotel, Derry to the group’s Northern Irish portfolio, which also includes the Maldron Hotel, Belfast:

“Maldron Hotel Derry is unique in that it is the only hotel within the walled city of Derry, so we very much look forward to working with general manager, Mike Gatt and his team over the coming months,” he added.

Mr. Gatt said that since 2008, the Maldron brand had been providing an excellent hospitality experience for domestic and international customers:

“The management team and the staff, which will remain the same, look forward to continuing to welcome our business travellers and leisure customers both from our neighbouring counties and further afield over the coming months under our new name,” he went on.

Dalata Hotel Group PLC currently operates 37 hotels in Ireland and the UK, with more than 6,000 bedrooms and around 3600 employees, making it Ireland’s largest hotel operator. All of the hotels in the group’s portfolio are located in Ireland, other than the Maldron Hotel Cardiff.
