Rademon Distillery launches Irish Whiskey Bonding Company

Rademon Estate Distillery in Co Down has officially launched its new Irish whiskey brand as it increasingly targets the global export market.

The Irish Whiskey Bonding Company is the latest development from the firm behind the award winning Shortcross Gin and Shortcross Irish Whiskey.

The Crossgar distillery, led by husband and wife team David and Fiona Boyd-Armstrong, said the IWBC is in part its homage to the great whiskey bonders and blenders of Belfast.

It will also offer the Co Down distillery more opportunities to craft new and exciting expressions of Irish whiskey.

Alongside the distillery’s own casks of Shortcross single malt, peated single malt and pot still whiskeys, the IWBC will source whiskey from other distilleries across the island of Ireland for its blends.

The distillery has already produced three new Irish whiskey expressions: Grafter, Chancer, and the 15-year-old Merchants Malt.

“We are Irish whiskey distillers and blenders at heart and love to create new and innovative expressions,” said David Boyd-Armstrong.

“The Irish Whiskey Bonding Company gives us a platform to take the whiskey that we distil at Rademon Estate Distillery under our Shortcross Irish Whiskey brand and to use that to create new expressions that will help us reach a greater number of Irish whiskey fans globally.

“The art of blending Irish Whiskey is something that we have been working hard at behind the scenes and it’s an exciting time to bring these new Irish Whiskies to market.”

The distillery managing director also revealed that Rademon is now able to provide a contract bottling and storage solutions for other Irish whiskey producers.

It follows a recent investment in a new storage facility.

“As the Irish whiskey industry continues to expand we are excited to be able to offer our services in two areas that the industry is facing significant constraints,” she said.

“We are already working with a number of other producers across the island and expect these elements of our business to grow over time.”
