New business centre set for Aldergrove

A plush new £2.7m business centre is to be built at Belfast International Airport. The new facility, which is to be created by private plane specialist, Jet Assist, will be available to the owners of private jets who want to touch down at the hub.

Jet Assist currently handles around 500 arrivals a year through its much more modest facilities at Aldergrove, but it is aiming to accommodate around 2000 planes per annum with its new business centre.

Jet Assist currently handles many of the stars who arrive in Northern Ireland to play at the Odyssey Arena or who take part in the bigger golf tournaments. Many VIP travellers also use the centre as their route into Northern Ireland.

The new centre will include a 44,000 sq. ft. hangar capable of holding a commercial-sized Boeing 767 jet and a 22,000 sq. ft. office complex. The glass-clad two-storey building will also have lounges, kitchens, a flying school and a VIP security screening suite.

The development should be in place by summer 2017.
