Hollywood action star Gerard Butler has been spotted dining out at a popular Belfast venue Deanes Meat Locker.

The 54-year-old Scot Scot hit the Howard Street favourite while in the city filming the live-action remake of How To Train Your Dragon.

Michael Deane, snapped a photo with the star and shared it on Instagram, saying: “Pleasure looking after the legend that [is] Gerard Butler. His friends call him Gerry. We are Belfast. We are Deanes Meat Locker #wehavethegoodstuff.

Butler, who originally voiced Stoick, the father of leading character Hiccup, in the DreamWorks Animation trilogy, will reprise the part for the upcoming adaptation.

Filming has now got underway after the SAG-AFTRA strike halted the production when it got started in July.

The movie follows Hiccup, an undersized teen wishing to become a dragon slayer like the other Vikings and his journey with a dragon he names Toothless.

The original animated film was released 14 years ago, with a sequel following back in 2014 and the final film, How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World, released in 2019.

The series is based on a series of children’s books written by British author Cressida Cowell with the same name.

Other cast members including Nick Frost and Nico Parker have also been spotted in the city.
