Drive-thru Starbucks plan for north Belfast

An application for a drive-thru Starbucks in north Belfast has been lodged.

Ciaran and Colm Butler, who hold the island of Ireland franchise for the Seattle-based coffee giant, hope to open their latest venture at Hillside Retail Park on the Crumlin Road.

The retail park was derelict until this year when Lidl moved in as anchor tenants, with more stores including Home Bargains set to follow.

There are currently around 20 Starbucks outlets in Northern Ireland, including concessions at a airports and other locations.

Meanwhile, the coffee giant has been hit by supply shortages in the US meaning some drinks are unavailable for customers.

Its “temporary supply shortages” include oat milk, hazelnut syrup, chai tea bags and green iced tea.

A Starbucks spokeswoman said: “Specific items will vary by market and store, and some stores will experience outages of various items at the same time.

She apologised for any “inconvenience” faced by customers and said it was working with vendors to restock items.
