Causeway and Titanic in top list

The Giant’s Causeway is the top-ranked Northern Irish tourist destination in the latest ranking from the highly-acclaimed Lonely Planet guide to the world’s top 500 tourist attractions.

None of Northern Ireland’s visitor locations managed to make it into the top 100 – which features places such as The Great Barrier Reef, The Taj Mahal and The Great Wall of China – but The Giant’s Causeway was placed at 103.

Titanic Belfast also made it onto the list, way down at number 424.

In total, there were 32 sites from the UK listed, including Edinburgh Castle, The Lake District and the British Museum in London.

The number one spot on the list was taken by the archaeologically significant Temples of Angkor in Cambodia.
