Berts Jazz Bar lands first AA Rosette

Berts Jazz Bar in Belfast’s Cathedral Quarter is celebrating after it proved its culinary credentials by gaining its first AA Rosette.

During an inspection carried out earlier this year, the venue, part of the five-star Merchant Hotel owned by Bill Wolsey’s Beannchor Group,  scored 94% across both dining and bar service.

General Manager, Mark O’Neill said: “We are thrilled and honoured to have won such a prestigious award from the AA.

“It’s an extremely proud achievement for Berts and the entire team who work tirelessly to ensure such a high standard is maintained for our guests.

“With live jazz music seven nights a week, an extensive drinks selection and now an AA rated French bistro style menu, we are proud to be playing our part in Belfast’s thriving social scene and continuing to offer excellence to our guests.”

The AA Hotel and Restaurant Inspector said: “This is a wonderful venue with a good deal of charm and character.

“I would certainly return to the venue for numerous reasons including the style and presentation of the location, the quality of the food and the live jazz music.”

AA Rosettes are awarded by the AA’s team of inspectors who have an unrivalled wealth of experience in assessing quality throughout the UK.

In achieving its first Rosette award, Berts Jazz Bar is recognised for having standards that stand out in the local area, serving food prepared with care, understanding and skill as well as using good quality ingredients. In the recent inspection, all dishes served met the one Rosette expectations.
