Boutique hotel and social housing development approved
A new 30-bedroom boutique hotel and restaurant are set to be built in the heart of Limavady following planning approval from Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council.
The project, proposed by 10 Main Street Ltd, also includes the construction of 26 social housing units on land to the rear of the site. The hotel will occupy the address at 10, 12, and 12a Main Street, with the current structures on the site to be demolished to make way for the development.
The hotel is expected to rise four storeys along the Main Street frontage, with a similarly scaled building positioned behind. In addition to the hotel and restaurant, the residential aspect of the plan will deliver 14 one-bedroom and 12 two-bedroom units, supported by private and shared open spaces, parking, cycling facilities, and landscaped areas.
The company behind the application is owned by Declan O’Donovan, who is also associated with Derry-based hospitality firm Astravo Ltd. Astravo operates Hotel No9 on Stand Road in Derry City, a 17-unit accommodation described as the city’s first contactless guest offering. That property, initially developed as holiday apartments, was granted hotel status earlier this year.
In planning documents submitted by Jones Architects on behalf of the developer, the Limavady project is described as a chance to revitalise a long-vacant section of the town’s main thoroughfare. The proposal outlines potential economic and social benefits for the area, including increased footfall, tourism, and access to modern accommodation and housing.
The council formally granted approval for the project in late July, paving the way for construction to begin in the coming months.
