Nine Squared prepares to open its first Belfast location

A Newry-based coffee brand, Nine Squared, is preparing to open its first Belfast location.

Sean McDonnell’s independent coffee company has been confirmed as a new tenant in the recently refurbished Printworks on Queen Street.

The Victorian building, which dates back to 1896, has been meticulously restored as part of a multi-million-pound redevelopment project that has transformed it into modern office spaces and work environments, spearheaded by jewellery and property entrepreneur Pete Boyle.

Other businesses taking space in the building include law firm Millar McCall Wylie, Clearbox Communications, and Michele International hair salon.

Nine Squared, already established on Monaghan Street in Newry, is the latest addition to the growing list of tenants.

At an event last Friday, the company offered a preview of its coffee and baked goods, giving a taste of what’s to come when the café officially opens.

“The restoration of The Printworks has been a labour of love, respecting the building’s rich history while adapting it for a vibrant future,” said Pete Boyle, owner of Angus Properties.

He continued, “It has been great to see the local business community and city leaders come together to celebrate not only The Printworks’ new chapter but also the ongoing regeneration of Queen Street. We’re proud to have established a hub for businesses in the heart of the city.”

“We’re excited to welcome Nine Squared Coffee, as their presence adds a vibrant energy to the space. We look forward to the positive influence they will bring to this historic part of Belfast,” Boyle added.
