Pi Guy announces preparations to open new location

Highlighted as one of the ’50 Best Pizza Places in the UK’ for 2024, a much-loved pizza pop-up is preparing to open its first permanent venue.

Pi Guy was founded by Marty Duggan in 2018, starting from his garden at home. It quickly gained a strong following for its sourdough pizzas, made with naturally leavened dough that is carefully fermented over a 72-hour process.

In 2022, Pi Guy set up shop at Trademarket on Dublin Road, a vibrant retail and food market. It delighted customers with its popular pizzas until the market closed last summer.

Following the announcement of Trademarket’s closure in July, Marty assured fans that this was not a permanent goodbye. He hinted that exciting plans were already in motion, promising news that would be worth the wait.

Earlier this week, Pi Guy’s social media channels posted a teaser: a photo of a set of keys, simply captioned with “more to follow” and the eyes emoji.

Eagle-eyed fans were quick to spot that the location was on the lively Ormeau Road in South Belfast, outside the vacant restaurant units in the Curzon Building, situated beside The Errigle Inn.

In 2024, Pi Guy earned a spot on The Times’ list of the ’50 Best Pizza Places in the UK,’ one of only three Northern Irish establishments to be recognised.

Adding to the buzz in the area, American dessert chain Duck Donuts is also preparing to launch its first Northern Ireland branch in the former Bank of Ireland building nearby.
