Raising a glass to exports
The chairman of the Old Bushmills Distillery, David Gosnell, has told an event organised by Danske Bank that export is at the heart of the producer’s continued commercial success.
Mr. Gosnell was speaking during an event organised at the distillery as part of Danske Bank’s Export First programme, a business-led support initiative from the NI Chamber of Commerce.
His audience comprised representatives of 75 local businesses, who heard him tell the inspirational story of how the Old Bushmills Distillery became a leader in the field of hand-crafted, small batch Irish whiskey.
Export had played a major role in ensuring that success, added Mr. Gosnell:
“Our most recent export launch was The Steamship Collection, which celebrate the 125th anniversary of the epic maiden voyage of the steamship, SS Bushmills, which took our whiskey to new corners of the world and indeed, we are still exporting to more than 40 countries worldwide,” he added. “Export is at the heart of our continuing success story of Bushmills.”
Also in attendance at the north coast event was Enterprise, Trade and Investment Minister, Jonathan Bell, who said that it was particularly fitting for the gathering to be held at the home of one of Northern Ireland’s globally-recognised brands:
“As an Executive, we recognise the important of supporting our local businesses to explore export markets, helping them to develop international business opportunities in key markets,” he added.
