Pre-Christmas revamp at Spirit Store

One of Enniskillen’s most popular bars is to is carrying out renovations in a bid to make the most of a post-lockdown boom in business.

Magee’s Spirit Store on East Bridge Street plans to complete the works ahead of the Christmas season, with bar manager Sean Swift saying “it will be impressive” when it is finished.

Co Fermanagh enjoyed a huge increase in staycation tourism this year and Magee’s is now renovating upstairs area, extending the floor space and putting in new furniture, lighting and TVs for sport.

Sean told MyFermanagh: “It will be impressive when it is finished, work just started the other day and we hope to have it open by Saturday, October 23.

“It was really about building on the momentum we gained after the pandemic, with everyone having to be seated we were using the upstairs area a lot more than we would have previously.

‘Go-to destination’

“We used to only open it on a Saturday night or for a private party, and we were that busy the last few months we found ourselves using the space a lot more.

“It just started rolling from that and we started to think about doing a few new things with this.

“It went from a quick lick of paint to a full renovation in the space of about half an hour’s chat.

“We have had good feedback from people going up there at the minute and we thought why not capitalise on it leading up to Christmas and make it the go-to destination for people.

“We have been very lucky the last few months and we just want to keep the ball rolling.”
