Popular cafe up for sale as long hours take toll on owners

A cafe in Co Antrim has gone on the market after its owners said the long hours involved in running the business had now taken their toll.

Toast on Main Street in Cullybackey has long been popular with people living in the area, serving traditional dishes like roasts, fries, wraps and sandwiches.

Sisters Lynette Millar and Leanne Wiseman, who have run the venue for nearly a decade, announced their decision to move on on Facebook. But they emphasised the business would stay open for the time being until a sale takes place.

Addressing their “lovely customers,” they said: “We have decided to put Toast up for sale. This has been a very hard decision for both of us but the long hours are starting to take their toll and we feel it’s time for a change.

“In the meantime we will be open for business as normal and hope you will all continue to support us.

“Our staff are like a second family to us and we would like to thank them so much for firstly all their hard work and secondly their support in this difficult decision, they truly are the best.”

Customers said they were shocked by the announcement, with one writing: “An amazing wee place, with amazing people. a group of girls who worked really hard and really well together, “ one said. “You really did build something special.”

Another praised “the exceptional standards that you have set in relation to your food, the cleanliness everywhere and the customer service, will be really hard to come by elsewhere.

“Toast has become a real family favourite and we’ve many special memories of family times there, both during normal opening times and at special functions, and nothing was ever too much to ask.”
