New restaurant at business park creates 14 jobs

A new restaurant has been opened in Cookstown, creating 14 jobs in the process.

Rachel Molloy is the woman behind No.47 which chares its name and ethos with her first venture, Café No.47 in Donaghmore.

Based in Kilcronagh Business Park, the restaurant will cater for visitors to, and those working at, the 53 acre facility on the outskirts of Cookstown.

Talking the helm in the kitchen is former national chef of the year James Devine, who scooped that title while working as a sous chef at Deanes EIPIC in Belfast.

Rachel told the Irish News: “We hope to announce our evening menu soon and plans are in place for a folk club with top musical acts, a range of tasty theme nights and some artistic events to reflect on what I believe has been the secret to No.47’s story so far.

‘Bold and risky’

“Opening a new restaurant in the midst of a pandemic is perhaps a bold and risky venture, but I believe we’ve got the winning ingredients at No.47 to make it a success.

“All of these challenges have been a huge learning experience, but never in my wildest dreams did I think I’d be turning the key on my second premises so soon. It’s both daunting and exciting at the same time.”

The Donaghmore woman was headhunted for the new unit by Café No.47 regular Kevin McGarrity, whose company McGarrity Contracts is behind the new business park.

He said: “When my brother Enda and I put our heads together, we knew we just had to approach Rachel to recreate the same magic in Cookstown, but the end result has exceeded even our highest expectations.

“I really believe that No.47 is something totally different for Mid Ulster, not only in its energy, atmosphere and impressive interior, but most importantly in the delicious food which is on a different level altogether.”
