The acquisition strengthens Musgrave’s portfolio with exclusive high-quality wines.

Musgrave, Ireland’s largest food retail, wholesale, and foodservice company, has announced the acquisition of Robb Brothers Wine Merchants Ltd, a respected supplier of premium wines to the hospitality sector across Ireland. The move bolsters Musgrave’s beverage offerings, adding an exclusive selection of high-quality wines tailored to meet the demands of its on-trade clients in restaurants and hotels, as well as its retail customers throughout Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

Founded in 2000 by brothers Charles and Philip Robb, Robb Brothers Wine Merchants has cultivated an impressive reputation for sourcing directly from vineyards and maintaining long-standing relationships with top winemakers around the world. Richard Mayne, Director of Wholesale for Musgrave Northern Ireland, highlighted this expertise, noting, “Robb Wines has an extensive portfolio and pride themselves for their long-term relationships with some of the best wine makers in the world, including Ben Glaetzer, Susana Balbo (Mendoza), Ben Sichel, and Alex Graffard (Henri Champliau Cremant), sourcing directly from wineries.”

This family-owned business is known for its rigorous selection process and commitment to quality, with exclusive offerings that appeal particularly to the high-end restaurant and hotel markets. Their values are closely aligned with Musgrave’s own mission of “Growing Good Business,” making Robb Brothers an ideal fit for Musgrave’s portfolio.

Mayne explained the strategic importance of the acquisition:

“As Ireland’s leading food retail, wholesale, and foodservice company, Musgrave’s acquisition of Robb Wines is an enhancement of our offering to our customers and forms part of our wider strategy to grow a world-class food and beverage business that delivers market-leading customer experiences every day.”

The acquisition strengthens Musgrave’s premium product range and reflects its dedication to supporting sustainable growth across the hospitality sector. “The values and purpose of Robb Wines are closely aligned with Musgrave’s purpose of Growing Good Business,” Mayne emphasised. “This is about creating a sustainable, profitable business that benefits customers, partners, local communities, and the wider local economy, and is underpinned by our values including building long-term stable relationships.”

This acquisition also supports Musgrave’s goal of expanding its offerings with high-quality, exclusive products that serve evolving market needs. Concluding with Musgrave’s vision for continued growth, Mayne added, “We will continue to explore acquisition opportunities that fit within this strategy.”
