Mount Charles clinches multi-million pound contract

THE Mount Charles Group has been awarded a contract to provide catering, cleaning, vending and ancillary services to the Southern Regional College (SRC).

The contract, which will last seven years and is worth more than £1m per annum, will see the Belfast-based food service and business support solutions company operate on nine SRC campuses.

Managing director of the Mount Charles Group, Cathal Geoghegan said recently that the tender process had been “rigorous”:

“This contract with SRC has boosted our employee figures by 80, taking the total number to 1,600. Those 80 team members have TUPE’d across to work for us and with their help, we have begun to successfully operate the contract,” he added.

The Mount Charles Group also provides cleaning and catering across four South-Eastern Regional College campuses as well as several schools, including Belfast Royal Academy and Friends’ School, Lisburn.

Director of finance and corporate services at SRC, Jim O’Hagan says that the college is looking forward to working with the Mount Charles Group and to getting the new contract up and running:

“It is important that high quality and keenly priced services are provided for the benefit of our students and we believe this will be achieved through this partnership with Mount Charles,” he adds.
