Millar’s Restaurant prepares for new beginnings near Queen’s University

Millar’s Restaurant on the Upper Lisburn Road in Finaghy has announced it will close next month, marking a bittersweet farewell for the beloved local dining spot. Known for its warm, community-oriented atmosphere, Millar’s has been a go-to for celebrations, shared meals, and countless memories.

In their heartfelt message to patrons, the Millar’s team expressed the difficult decision to leave their Finaghy location:

“It is with deep sadness that we share the news: Millar’s Restaurant in Finaghy will be closing its doors next month. This place has become so much more than a restaurant; it has been a warm and welcoming home for celebrations, shared meals, and lasting connections with all of you who have become our friends. Leaving behind this beloved spot is no easy choice, but sometimes we must let go of what we love to grow in new ways and continue to serve our community.”

The closure isn’t a goodbye but rather a new beginning. In late November 2024, Millar’s will reopen as Millar’s Brasserie at 44 University Road, next to Queen’s University Belfast. The move to South Belfast, a vibrant area with a dynamic blend of students and locals, will allow Millar’s to open six days a week, serving lunch and dinner. While the new spot offers an exciting fresh start, the team remains committed to bringing the warmth and hospitality they are known for.

The transition to Queen’s Quarter represents a forward-thinking step, allowing Millar’s to grow and reach a broader community. At the heart of this move is the team’s dedication to supporting staff, providing flexibility and fostering a space that mirrors the familiar spirit of their Finaghy roots.

“Our new home will give us the opportunity to expand, offering lunch and dinner six days a week in the heart of South Belfast. This move allows us to support our incredible team with flexible hours and opens the door for us to grow, creating a Millar’s experience that’s both familiar and full of new possibilities,” the team shared.

As they prepare for the transition, Millar’s expressed gratitude to the Finaghy community, emphasizing that their customers’ support has been central to the restaurant’s success. Patrons are invited to join them on University Road, where the team promises the same welcoming atmosphere they’ve cherished.

“To each and every one of you who made our Finaghy location so special, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We hope you’ll join us at Millar’s Brasserie, where we can continue this journey together and create even more unforgettable moments.”
