LCN celebrates 150 years of Hospitality Ulster

Hospitality Ulster recently celebrated its 150th anniversary, marking its long history representing the hospitality sector here through the ages, and LCN was there to raise a glass to the milestone.

A large event with hundreds of  HU members and guests including Northern Ireland Minister Steve Baker MP and local broadcaster and comedian Tim McGarry was held at Banana Block in East Belfast and a special supplement in the latest edition of Licensed & Catering News recorded occasion and spoke to key players about the journey so far.

Bill Penton, Publisher of LCN Magazine said: “This is a fantastic time to be working with Hospitality Ulster as its trade media partner. We are thrilled to be able to help the organisation amplify its voice and bring forward the all-important trade news first. This is a landmark occasion for the history of hospitality in Northern Ireland, and the team at LCN and Penton Publications wish them well as they continue in their mission to support and provide a strong voice for the industry”.

Tony O’Neill, Chair, Hospitality Ulster added: “It is an honour to be the Chair during this historic moment for the organisation. When you think of some of the most significant world events that all happened since the foundation of Hospitality Ulster, it really puts it into perspective how long Hospitality Ulster has been a voice for the industry. This was a fitting event to come together as a sector and celebrate this occasion”.

Colin Neill, Chief Executive, Hospitality Ulster said: “My role as Chief Executive is to be the custodian of such a vibrant organisation, and there is no doubt that we have experienced many challenges as a sector, and we are still in the midst of some of hospitality’s most challenging moments.

“Celebrating 150 years of Hospitality Ulster has been a reminder that though it may be a long time before the fog clears, the sector’s resilience will see us through to the other side. We are fighting hard for our members now, and we’ve shown that we have fought tirelessly for businesses through the decades.

“It was great to have the Northern Ireland Minister with us to see first-hand the breadth and depth of Northern Ireland’s hospitality industry. There are not many organisations that can say they are 150 years old, and we expect to continue to be that strong voice for hospitality for years to come”.
