Willie Jack confirms plans to open new pub beside Duke of York

Will it be called The Wee Duke  or even The Fallen Duke? To be decided

Will Jack has revealed plans for a new pub beside the legendary Duke of York – with a traditional twist. No TV screens, no game machine, not even any music – just good old fashioned, traditional pub values that inspires good conversation and with a ‘slightly older demographic.’

The well-known Belfast publican owns several pubs throughout Belfast’s Cathedral Quarter — The Duke of York, The Harp Bar and The Dark Horse, alongside the Irish whiskey shop, Friend At Hand.

“You never know, there might be a little bar called The Little Duke, which will have no music in it, which will shut early and be full of draught beer,” he said.

The pub will only serve draught beer and no other alcohol. No spirits, no shots and certainly no limes.

“I would love a public house where it’s busy on a Tuesday, all the drinks will be from before the 1980s, and there will be no limes allowed.
