Hilton Templepatrick expansion plans revealed

The new owners of  the Hilton Hotel in Templepatrick have unveiled plans for a major expansion and upgrade.

Loughview Leisure, which bought the 200-acre hotel and golf resort in August 2021, hopes to add 60 hotel suites, 44 lodges and 44 apartments to the Co Antrim venue.

The hospitality arm of Belfast man Paddy Kearney’s Kilmona Group had already revealed plans to rebrand as DoubleTree by Hilton, the first of its kind in Northern Ireland and one of the premier brands within the Hilton collection.

The redevelopment will include an extension of the existing hotel building and the construction of two new blocks, providing a new function room, rooftop spa, conservatory extension, shepherds huts/log cabins, and ‘associated countryside estate outdoor activities’.

The details were revealed in a planning application submitted to Antrim and Newtownabbey council.

Loughview Leisure’s hotel portfolio includes Ten Square in Belfast, as well as the Chimney Corner Hotel in Newtownabbey and Loughshore Hotel in Carrickfergus.

Loughview operations director Stephen Carson said: “We’re thrilled to have completed the acquisition of Hilton Templepatrick, given its strategic location and its reputation as one of the favoured destinations in the Northern Irish hotel and golf scene.

“We will continue to invest in the resort going forward and have exciting plans to reveal in the upcoming weeks.”
