Hey Chick! brings Japanese flavours to Botanic

A new chicken shop opening its doors in Belfast has taken its inspiration from he bright lights of Tokyo, Japan.

Diners at  Hey Chick! on Botanic can get their hands on Karaage, Japanese-style crispy fried chicken, as well as a Katsu inspired chicken fillet burger, loaded up
with a fragrant Katsu Curry sauce.

Oisin Montgomery (Chef and Co-Founder) said: “We established Hey Chick! Over lockdown in a pop-up takeaway environment, paving the way to opening in street-food markets Common Market and Trademarket before opening up our very own home for Junk Food in 49 Botanic Avenue.

“Our daily offering leads with our signature Korean Fried Chicken, alongside our Buffalo, dripping in our own cheese sauce, however, we’re always keen to explore the world’s fascination with Fried Chicken, which our supper clubs and menu specials allow us to have fun with.”

“We, as a business, proudly take inspiration from across the globe, with a focus on producing flavourful fried chicken and junk food for all, 7 days a week.”

Previous supper club menu items have become crowd favourites in both Common Market and Botanic Avenue, such as the Nashville Hot, which, as the name suggests, is not for the feint hearted.

Michael McKeown, Co-Founder, Hey Chick!, added: “Botanic Avenue has a fantastic history of multi-cultural and exciting food concepts from local legends to some of the more recent additions like ourselves, we’re proud to settle in amongst some great neighbours serving the tastiest of food from Greece to the Middle East and beyond.
