Brunel’s looks to a new chapter

This Saturday, October 14, will see Newcastle restaurant, Brunel’s, open the doors for the first time on new 70-seater premises at Downs Road in the town, leading to the creation of 15 new jobs.

The move from its old spot on the Bryansford Road has involved a significant investment for the popular venue, including around £100,000 for a brand new kitchen.

Named after the engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel – designer of the SS Great Britain which ran aground in Dundrum Bay in 1846 – the new restaurant occupies a 2,700 sq. ft unit at Downs Road, employing 25 staff in total.

The venture sees head chef and director, Paul Cunningham team up with newly-appointed co-director and general manager, Fiona Davey for this new chapter at Brunel’s.

Speaking about the decision to relocate, head chef, Paul Cunningham, said that it had become apparent that the business needed more space, so when the opportunity to relocate to larger and more central premises in the town came up, there was no need for debate.

And Fiona Davey says that there has been a great attention to detail in the design of the new restaurant:

“From our incredible menu, to the stylish interiors and high spec of the kitchen, we’ll be offering an unforgettable dining experience to customers both old and new,” she adds.

Brunel’s new restaurant features an open plan kitchen, a dedicated cocktail bar and an exclusive list of wines.
