The Ivy Belfast seeks new manager after Julian Henry exit
Just over a month since opening its doors, The Ivy Belfast is in search of a new general manager following the departure of Julian Henry, a prominent figure in Northern Ireland’s hospitality industry.
The Ivy, which opened in mid-September, announced the vacancy through a LinkedIn job post over the weekend. The role calls for a dynamic leader with strong front-of-house experience, capable of managing large teams and driving profitability. Candidates are expected to bring an in-depth understanding of the restaurant industry and have a track record of inspiring and mentoring staff.
Julian Henry’s appointment was seen as a major coup for The Ivy Belfast, given his well-regarded tenure at Shu, one of Belfast’s top dining establishments. His leadership at The Ivy was expected to bolster the brand’s expansion into Northern Ireland, blending the restaurant’s renowned elegance with Belfast’s contemporary dining scene.
At the time of the opening, Henry had expressed enthusiasm for the new venture, saying, “We were excited to add to Belfast’s vibrant food scene with a dining experience that combines The Ivy’s timeless charm with the energy of this wonderful city.”
The Ivy Belfast, part of the wider Ivy Collection which includes 40 restaurants across the UK, made a splash with a high-profile launch last month. Guests included well-known Northern Irish figures such as Dame Mary Peters, Pamela Ballantine, Tim McGarry, and Olympic gold medalist Hannah Scott.
The restaurant’s management has not yet provided a comment on the circumstances surrounding his exit or the search for his replacement. Perks for the new general manager position include a 100% discount at Ivy restaurants for the manager and three guests, along with complimentary meals and drinks during working hours.
