Belfast Hilton sold for £40m to Jurys Inn owners

Belfast’s Hilton Hotel has been sold for £40m to international hotel business Pandox.

Pandox also owns the Jurys Inn chain of hotels, which operates the Leonardo Hotel on Belfast’s Great Victoria Street.

The Hilton, at Belfast’s Lanyon Place, has 202 bedrooms and had been owned by an affiliate of Starwood.

Liia Nõu, chief executive of Pandox, said: “The hotel is well-invested with a strong strategic location in the city centre of Belfast.

“The UK is a one of Europe’s largest and most dynamic hotel markets and Belfast is an attractive destination with a rich business life, several universities, and many attractions, which drive demand from all important segments.

There will be no change in the branding of the hotel, with Pandox confirming that it will be operated under a management agreement with Axiom Hospitality, subject to a franchise under the Hilton brand.

The sale of Hilton Belfast follows news of the arrival of Tapestry Collection by Hilton to Portrush. The company recently announced that it had entered a franchise agreement with Andras House to run a hotel in the Main Street of the coastal town.
