Luxury Portrush beachfront development sold days after listing
A luxury beachfront development in Portrush, featuring high-end apartments and a popular restaurant, has been sold just days after being listed on the market for £3.1 million.
The property, situated on Causeway Street with stunning views over Arcadia Beach, includes two three-bedroom penthouse apartments, while the lower floors are home to the well-known 55 Degrees North restaurant and café.
The development was sold by the Wilton Group, led by Australian property investor Justin Quirk, who has lived in Northern Ireland for over 23 years. Although the sale price and the identity of the buyer remain undisclosed, Quirk has confirmed that the new owners are involved in the hospitality industry and intend to keep the restaurant open under new management.
Last year, Causeway Coast & Glens Borough Council granted planning permission to convert the restaurant space into four apartments. After acquiring the building, Quirk submitted a revised application in May, seeking approval to transform the restaurant and café into three large luxury apartments. However, the new owner has no interest in these plans and will instead “retain it as is,” according to Quirk.
The sale is expected to result in changes to the restaurant’s management, with the current team at 55 Degrees North likely to end their tenancy by the weekend of 14th September. Quirk, known for his successful restoration of Wilton House in Belfast, which reopened last year as high-end accommodation for corporate clients, has described the Portrush property as a prime asset that continues to attract significant interest.
