Top chefs add Five spice to LCN Awards’ winning recipe

Five of Northern Ireland’s finest culinary creators are battling it out to lift the coveted LCN Chef of the Year title for 2022.

A gala dinner and awards show at Belfast’s Europa Hotel on September 30 will transport guests back to the Roaring Twenties with a Great Gatsby inspired theme and entertainment, but the chefs duking it out for top prize are all masters of modern cuisine.

The fantastic five are:

  • William Dawson, Ava Wine Bar, Bangor
  • Ryan Stringer, James Street, Belfast
  • Mervyn Steenson, Groucho’s on the Square, Richhill
  • Nigel Mannion, Titanic Hotel Belfast
  • Dario Percic, Killeavy Castle Estate

Niall McKenna the culinary genius behind James St and Waterman House, knows well what it is to win an LCN Award having previously been named restaurateur of the year.

He told LCN: “A lot of different people do awards, but the LCN ones have been around a long time, and they are the voice of the industry, so they are really credible.

“It’s great to have them back at the Europa and for friends and colleagues in the industry to be able to meet again, catch up and have what will undoubtedly be a great night.”

This year think flapper girls, paperboy caps, Leonardo DiCaprio in a well fitted tux… or for the slightly older among among us Robert Redford in pristine three-piece cream linen suit with his blonde hair Brylcreemed into place.

All the winners are being crowned at the LCN Awards gala dinner on September 30, and with tickets for the big night almost gone it would be well advised to snap yours up now.
