The Merchant Bar & Grill prepares for re-opening

The Merchant Bar & Grill at Francis Street in Newry has started preparations for re-opening after the Lockdown by engaging the specialist team at Mercury Security and Facilities Management to ensure customers are able to enjoy the bar and restaurant safely.

With hand sanitiser dispensers and a re-arrangement of seating to maintain social distancing, The Merchant is also able to open its outdoor area to take full advantage of the summer weather.

One group ‘returning’ to work has not actually had much time off during the lockdown because The Merchant’s manager, Liam Hughes, and his chefs have been working right through the Lockdown preparing 100 free meals every day for local sheltered people or others in need.

The team cooked up and provided over 6,500 free meals during the Lockdown to the local community and are now looking forward to getting back to a more regular restaurant service for lunch and dinner daily.
