Sandy’s African Food Hub brings new tastes to Derry

Sandy’s African Food Hub – the first African food restaurant in Derry and the Northwest- has opened its doors in the city.

The Bonds Street restaurant and takeaway offers customers a unique culinary experience centered around African vegetables, herbs, spices and recipes and ensuring high quality and taste.

Owner, Sandra Nkechi Agoha, said the menu has been developed to include dishes that will appeal to African, Caribbean and European customers.

Originally from Nigeria, Sandra said she wants to bring the taste of home to Derry and bring a new dining experience and culture to the city.

Sandr, who has lived and worked in Derry for the past 10 years and currently works with the NHS as a senior nursing assistant, explained: “I have a passion for cooking and caring for people. I have had past experience in similar business from Nigeria which also comes from the family background.

“I was brought up in a family where both parents worked in the hospitality industry and I was lucky enough to always be surrounded by good food, I will give the credit to my parents.

“After good encouragement from family and friends, I decided to open the Sandys African Food Hub. My husband and four kids are so supportive.

“SAFH is allowing me to follow my passion and also provide an avenue to bring a different kind of food culture to the city.”

The core service at SAFH is online food orders and delivery in collaboration with JUST EAT.

Other services they provide includes outdoor catering and corporate services; birthday surprise packages, event planning, decorations and kid’s birthday parties.
