Portadown BBQ spot Holy Smokes gets perfect review

A Northern Ireland BBQ shack has received a 10/10 rating from the hugely popular YouTube food reviewer.

Matt Davies-Binge, who is known as Food Review Club and has over 6.7 million likes on his TikTok account and has racked up a massive following on Instagram and YouTube. stopped off at Holy Smokes in Portadown.

Food Review Club, who has already shared their love for the NI food and drink scene in their reviews of Flout! Pizza and Bittles Bar for a pint of Guinness, made the trip from Belfast to check out what they have heard could be “the number one BBQ shack in Europe”.

Matt orders an “absolute wild menagerie of food” which includes a Kosher salt smash burger, BBQ short rib, whiskey peppercorn sauce and the ‘bestselling’ BBQ chicken.

Taking a bite of the burger, he said: “It’s creamy, it’s cheesy – there’s a mad salt kick. The kosher salt brings out so much flavour in the meat.

“I don’t think I’ve ever tasted a patty like that. Wow that meat is electric.”

A self-proclaimed “short rib man”, Matt describes himself as a “cat that’s got the cream” tucking into the meat which he says is so special before helping himself to another bite.

He continues: “Ladies and gents, this for me is faultless.

“People often say what does it take to get that top end score from us – unlike the other creators, for me, it needs to have that magic.

“This, Holy Smokes BBQ Shack, that’s a 10/10.”
