New food hall set to open in south of city

Work is currently underway on a new food hall off South Belfast’s Lisburn Road.

The former bank building site at Benmore House is being transformed into a hot food premises with multiple food outlets.

The new venture has taken over the vacant space which was previously a Danske Bank building with the last use of the site being in 2019 when the branch closed.

According to planning documents submitted to Belfast City Council, permission was granted on the project at the end of 2021 with work expected to be finished this year.

The proposal reads: “Change of Use from financial services to hot food premises providing sit in and takeaway”.

Floor plans drawn up by David Mills Architect show the intention for a food hall/court set up within the revamped space with three hot-food vendors and a large customer seating area.

The three food outlets, according to the proposed floor plan submitted in 2021, are a dessert stand called ‘Dessert Den’, a pizza retailer called ‘Fire Away’ and an Asian food stall called ‘Wok & Go’.
