Love and Death closes ahead of ‘new chapter’

One of Belfast’s ionic late night venues has closed its doors.

Love and Death cocktail bar announced on December 30th it would shut its doors for the last time at the weekend, marking the end if its 15 year journey on Ann Street.

In a social media post its owners said it was “time for a new chapter” in the venue’s history.

They urged revellers to pay one last visit and “help us give the place a great send off.”

Many took to social media to express sadness at the news.

“We’re very sad to announce that this will be the very last weekend our beloved L&D will be open for business.

“Our wee venue has been host to all sorts of fun and shenanigans for the past 15 years and it’s seen a lot of people come and go, but it’s time for a new chapter in its history.

“If you want to spend one last night in the best wee club in town, come see us tonight or tomorrow, have a dance, and help us give the place a great send off.

“Thank you all for being part of our history and making L&D what it is today.”

On social media, revellers spoke of their sadness.

One posted: “No way – some great nights out in here.”

Another said: “Very sorry to hear this I had many a great night and cocktails in the bar over the years. Good luck for the future.”
