Little Wing to open 10th pizzeria on Ormeau Road

Little Wing, the pizza chain owned by Bill Wolsey’s Beannchor Group, is to open its is opening its 10th restaurant later this year.

It’s understood it will be located on the Ormeau Road on the ground floor of The Residence, an apartment block built on the site of a former PSNI station.

According to Little Wing’s Facebook page, recruitment has already started for the new venue, with a post saying: “We opened our doors back in 2009 with our flagship restaurant on Ann Street and having grown this will be our 10th pizzeria.”

Beannchor Group’s prime asset is Belfast’s five-star Merchant Hotel, while it also owns Bullitt Hotel and the Haslem Hotel, as well as several pubs including The National and Dirty Onion. It also owns the Hillside restaurant in Hillsborough, Co Down.

lastt year the Bullitt Hotel was hit by a devastating fire, which started in its rooftop bar, Babel.  The venue has since reopened with a new rooftop venue called Tetto.

In June, 2021, Beannchor Group was granted planning approval to build another Bullitt branded hotel in Dublin.

The €30 million (£25.6m) would redevelop the Victorian-era Boland’s bakery and biscuit factory off Dublin’s Capel Street into an eight-storey 98-bedroom hotel while creating around 200 jobs.

In the December of the same year the group completed a £1m investment to transform a former Wetherspoon’s bar at Lisburn Square into new venue, The Lark.

Beannchor Group was founded by Bill Wolsey, with Little Wing now led by his son Luke, above.

There are already three Little Wings in Belfast, as well as in Lisburn, Bangor, Enniskillen, Holywood, Whiteabbey and Newtownards.  Its most recent opening was in Whiteabbey in 2019.
