Hospitality Exchange 2020 goes virtual

The 21st Hospitality Exchange will take place on Wednesday 14th October 2020. This year’s Hospitality Exchange will have a different format comprising of a number of elements. These will start with “The Summit” and will be followed by sessions on key industry issues.

The Summit will be live streamed from the Crowne Plaza, Belfast with BBC’s Mark Simpson overseeing events and guiding delegates through a packed programme. Delegates will be able to live stream the programme, submit questions and take part in the discussion and debate. The event has been tailored to the current trading climate and will be downloadable.

The 2020 line-up includes an update on the hotel market with a specially commissioned report from the Northern Ireland Hotels Federation, an economic outlook from a tourism perspective with leading economist Neil Gibson, as well as an update on trading from international benchmarking company STR. There will be live debates with industry experts and insights from Tourism Ireland and Tourism Northern Ireland.

The Summit is delighted to welcome the Minister for the Economy, Diane Dodds MLA, to this year’s event. Minister Dodds will outline her support for the sector, plans to ensure its sustainability and the challenges of keeping Northern Ireland firmly in the spotlight.

Award winning journalist Pól Ó Conghaile will bring the event to a close with an in-depth look at the Staycation, what makes a successful trip and how operators can ensure that they capitalise on this market with the current travel restrictions that are in place.

The recent influx of visitors from the South of Ireland has been a great boost to tourism and hotels have benefited. Bookings increased three-fold in August 2020 compared to the same month last year.
