The green light has been given to plans for a new £1m rooftop bar and restaurant at The Flint Hotel in Howard Street, Belfast.

Hoteliers Peter Ringland (29) and his brother, Ben (27), who own the seven-storey venue, are behind plans, which were revealed by LCN earlier this year.

The 220-seater restaurant should create around 30 new jobs.

The announcement comes as the brothers continue work on a redevelopment at the Crescent Townhouse hotel, which they took on in 2015. That will re-open later this year under its new moniker, The 1852.

Peter and Ben, who began their hospitality careers by building a portfolio of Air BnB properties in south Belfast in 2010, also own the Town Square Café and Bar at Botanic.

The Flint opened its doors in the Howard House building just last year. Its 55 bedrooms come complete with fully-fitted kitchenettes and is currently ranked as the number two hotel in the city on Trip Advisor.

The brothers are also now understood to be looking at expanding The Flint brand into Great Britain. Sites in Glasgow, Newcastle and Manchester are currently being assessed.
