Free tortillas given out at city centre venue

A popular UK Mexican food chain gave customers in Belfast the chance to enjoy a free burrito last Thursday.

Tortilla, located at Cornmarket in Belfast city centre, celebrated National Burrito Day in style on April 4 with the UK’s ‘biggest ever free burrito giveaway’.

The real California burrito and taco joint gave away half a million burritos to hungry customers who signed up to their loyalty scheme Club Tortilla.

To grab one of the free medium burritos at Tortilla, customers had to sign up to Club Tortilla on their website and once the account was validated they received an email with instructions to download their loyalty card to their phone wallet.

The freshly made burritos with vegan and vegetarian options usually cost up to £9.

Tortilla Marketing Director Megan Burton-Brown said: “Tortilla exists to make life better with burritos – and what better way to celebrate than with burritos for all on World Burrito Day!

“This year we’ve made our giveaway bigger and better with half a million reasons for life to be better!”

Tortilla was inspired by San Francisco’s taquerias, each restaurant boasts a relaxed vibe with neon lights and feel-good tunes, perfect for dinners with friends, family and colleagues.
