Echlinville Distillery in unique zombie game collaboration

Echlinville Distillery in Co Down has announced a new whiskey collaboration with Austrian video game publisher Deep Silver for its next blockbuster release.

The Kircubbin distillery, which owns the Dunville’s brand, will pair the famous Belfast whiskey name with ‘Dead Island 2’, which is released later this month.

The zombie gaming saga is the sequel to 2011’s popular Dead Island, which sold five million copies inside two years for Deep Silver.

Announcing the release of ‘Dead Island 2 Dunville’s Irish Whiskey’, Echlinville’s managing director, Shane Braniff, said it marked new ground for the Co Down business.

“This step into the world of gaming is a very new venture for us, but one about which we are very excited,” he said.

“When we revived the historic Dunville’s Whiskey brand a decade ago, we did so with the aim of introducing it to a new generation of whiskey enthusiasts.

“Dead Island is an incredibly popular and beloved video game franchises and is sure to bring Dunville’s to a whole new global audience.”

The new release is a modern blend of pot still, malt and grain whiskeys aged in ex-bourbon casks and bottled at 40 per cent ABV.
