Bun Stop shop for sweet city centre treats

A Taiwan-style custard bun concept has popped up in the award-winning Hill Street Hatch food incubator.

Bun Stop, which will remain in situ until November 7, is the brainchild of Charlotte Black, who left her full time job as a marketing consultant to bring her unique offering of Taiwanese style custard buns to Belfast’s bustling food scene.

Charlotte, who has lived between Taiwan and Belfast throughout her life, said: “I was really missing Missing Taiwanese custard buns – and thought if I couldn’t get out there that I could still bring a bit of Taiwan here!”

Like most people working from home during the pandemic, Charlotte recognised that the tea break is more important than ever – and inspired by the custard buns synonymous with break culture in Taiwan decided to provide a fresh solution with delicious, fluffy buns baked fresh every day.

Having successfully scaled up delivering across Belfast she is now ready to bring her business to a city centre location.

“I’m excited to share a tiny pop-up of delicious Asian-style tea breaks with Belfast, and if people love it as much as I do – hopefully find a small home for Bun Stop in Belfast,” she added.

So say goodbye to ordinary tea breaks, and visit Bun Stop at Hill Street Hatch until November 7.
