Boundary Brewing opens NI’s first taproom after funding drive
An independent brewery is set to open Northern Ireland’s first ever taproom at its East Belfast brewery on November 18.
Following a successful Crowdfunding campaign Boundary Brewing, a cooperative with more than 2,000 members, is set to achieve a dream which its founder Matthew Dick said had been 10 years ion the making.
The taproom will be a community hub, providing a meeting place for clubs, groups, community organisations and more, as well as offering affordable Boundary beers along with beer from other world class breweries.
It will also feature a wine list, and a selection of local spirits plus a partnership with Flout Pizza, offering visitors food options.
Boundary Brewing started business eight years ago through al Crowdfunding drive that saw the brewer raise £100,000 from over 400 members in just eight days.
Several years later, Boundary Brewing offered more shares raising a further £160,000 and attracting hundreds of new members to its cooperative business.
Matthew said: “Opening a taproom has been our dream since before we brewed our first Boundary beer, almost a decade ago, and we can’t believe that we’re now making that dream a reality.
The latest funding drive saw shares sold at £100 a piece, with benefits including an 18% discount on Boundary beer from its shop and 10% off all Boundary beer from its other venues.
The community share raise also gives investors 20% of their investment back as a gift voucher for Boundary beer in all the brewery’s venues.
Boundary Brewing has invested a total of £300,000 in the launch of the new taproom, £150,000 of which came from the community share raise with the other £150,000 already financed.
