Boathouse sets sail on exciting new journey

Sean and Geraldine McLaughlin have toasted the reopening of The Boathouse restaurant in Antrim, alongside head chef Michael McGuigan.

They pledged to breathe new life into the beloved establishment, setting the stage for an exciting culinary chapter following the news in September that they had taken over the reins of the iconic venue.

Following a restoration process, The Boathouse opened its doors to a welcoming community, both new and familiar.

Over the course of the day, the restaurant saw an outpouring of support and enthusiasm from customers eager to savour the reimagined dining experience. Plans are afoot to invest £150K into the restaurant over the next 18 months.

Under the guidance of Head Chef Michael McGuigan, who returned to lead the culinary team, The Boathouse unveiled an exquisite menu that showcases Northern Ireland’s finest flavours.

The new menu features an array of culinary delights, from the freshest seafood sourced from local waters to succulent meats and produce from Northern Irish farms. Customers will be treated to both traditional palates and those seeking a taste of the street food experience.

With unrivalled panoramic views of Lough Neagh as their backdrop, diners revelled in the gastronomic journey offered by The Boathouse.

Sean McLaughlin, speaking on behalf of the family and staff, said: “We’re thrilled to have reinstated The Boathouse and to witness the support and love from our wonderful community. Culinary excellence is not merely about food; it’s about creating unforgettable experiences, and we are committed to delivering that promise. The excitement and buzz in the restaurant is palpable and we can’t wait for the next part of this journey.”
