The Halt Celebrates First Birthday After Welcoming 100,000 Visitors

New pedestrian walkway from Grand Central Station opens as Belfast destination enters next phase of growth

Belfast food, drink and events destination HALT, Weavers Cross is celebrating its first birthday after welcoming 100,000 visitors in its first year.

The milestone comes as the venue enters its next phase of growth, with a new pedestrian walkway opening this week to provide direct access from Belfast Grand Central Station, opposite Saltwater Square.

A new outdoor fan zone featuring a state-of-the-art 180-inch TV creates a dedicated space for customers to enjoy major sporting events such as the ongoing World Cup and upcoming Wimbledon Championship. Further developments include new vendors and the launch of Let’s Go Padel this summer.

Located within the former Europa Bus Centre, HALT, Weavers Cross has received national recognition for transforming an underutilised city centre space into a vibrant hub for food, drink, live events, sport, culture and community activity.

Since opening in July 2025, the destination has grown to seven food vendors and three bars, supporting 40 staff and creating opportunities for local suppliers, musicians, event organisers and independent businesses. The venue has received national recognition for injecting vibrancy into an underutilised city centre space, winning a Pineapple Award in the highly contested Activation Category.

Damien McQuillan who operates within the food offering said: “Welcoming 100,000 visitors is a fantastic achievement, but we are most proud of the community that continues to grow here. With new vendors, improved links from Grand Central Station and padel courts on the way, we’re just getting started.”

HALT, Weavers Cross will celebrate its first birthday on Saturday 4 July with live music, giveaways and special drinks offers.
