Raising the bar: A new chapter in Belfast’s Linen Quarter
As Belfast’s hospitality scene continues to thrive, a new venture is set to elevate the city’s social landscape—Amelia Hall. Nestled in the buzzing Linen Quarter, Amelia Hall is not just another bar; it’s a thoughtfully curated experience designed to bring people together.
LCN recently spoke with Peter Ringland, co-founder of The Ringland Group, to uncover the story behind this ambitious new space. “Amelia Hall is special,” Peter shared. “We wanted to create a place that wasn’t just about drinking or eating but about connection—a space where people feel like they’re part of something bigger.”
The Ringland Group, known for successful destinations like The Flint Hotel and Town Square, has poured over two years into making Amelia Hall a reality. “It’s been a long process, but we’re thrilled to finally bring it to life,” he added. The bar’s design draws inspiration from European culture, especially Italy, embracing the concept of “A tavola non si invecchia,” or “At the table, one does not grow old.”
Peter described Amelia Hall’s atmosphere as “open, warm, and elegant—where everyone feels welcome.” With large glass windows and a blend of modern and art-deco aesthetics, the space is inviting yet sophisticated. “We didn’t want it to feel exclusive,” he explained. “It’s about creating a welcoming environment.”
The team made a surprising discovery during renovations: a time capsule buried beneath the building dating back to 1923. “Finding it was surreal,” Peter said. “It felt like a window into Belfast’s past. We’ve subtly incorporated these historic elements into the bar’s design, respecting the foundation while building something new.”
Amelia Hall is more than a bar—it’s a beer hall, pizzeria, and community hub. Executive Chef Tony Liddell, formerly Elton John’s personal chef, leads the kitchen with an emphasis on simple, high-quality ingredients. The cocktail menu blends classics with unique creations, ensuring there’s something for everyone.
“We’re ready,” Peter concluded. “We want people to come in, sit down, have a drink, and feel like they’re part of something special.” With its distinctive concept and prime location, Amelia Hall promises to be a vibrant addition to Belfast’s Linen Quarter.
