Muddlers Club among five NI venues in top restaurants poll

Michelin star restaurant The Muddlers Club has been named in the top 10 restaurants in the UK by independent restaurant, bar and venue website Squaremeal.

The venue, in Belfast’s Cathedral Quarter, took the No6 spot, with four other Northern Ireland restaurants also making the top 70.

Fellow Michelin star venue OX  came in at 51, with Home at 63, Balloo House at 69 and newcomer Blank on Belfast’s Malone Road at number 70.

Blank’s Christina Taylor, who also runs Shed bistro on the city’s Ormeau Road, said: “We only opened in October last year and even back then there was uncertainty around public health restrictions and it was definitely a bit of a risk!

“However we knew there was an appetite in Belfast for a high-end food offer based entirely on ingredients sourced from within the island and that combination of local foods, carefully curated and proudly presented, has proven to be a hit with our customers from Belfast and well beyond.”

Each of the Top 100 was decided by a combination of Squaremeal’s own in-house critic-led opinions and thousands of diner votes.
